Posted - 07/06/2006 : 12:42:46 I have 2 quick questions regarding user set up.
I am having a difficulty updating roles or users. If I try to update a user, it fails an with an error message "password is blank". All the users have been loaded using the "Synch Users" feature and have an NT account. Why does it expect a hardcoded password for NT users?
Also, I am unable to update roles. There are 2 buttons at the bottom 1- Add, and 2- Delete. The only way I can make any chanegs is to go directly into the database's tables.
Thanks. |

Posted - 09/05/2006 : 07:39:35 I think I found the answer. I was testing the wrong way, It appears that users are automatically created, added to the Users list and added their respective Roles the first time they log on.

Posted - 09/05/2006 : 05:48:57 We have Pass-Through Authentication enabled and the users are able to connect to the application. The issue is that if the users are not included in the "Selected Users" box inside Add, Remove, Update Roles (within the role feature); they are able to connect to the application but do not see any of the folders that are assigned to their nt group (role).
For instance, if John M, is a member of the nt group finance. I created a nt based role named Finance (from the sync user page) and assigned permission to folders based on this role. John M. cannot see any folders unless I add him inside the "Selected Users" box for the Finance Role (and to the this I have to have John M. set up as a user in RP)...
Is there any way around this?
Thanks.

Yes, what you are asking is possible via Pass-Through Authentication .

Posted - 09/01/2006 : 14:13:05 Using nt group, is it possible to have users log in without being set up as an actual user in report portal. I cannot get users to connect if only the nt group that he belongs to them is added but not the user itself.
Thanks. |

Posted - 07/07/2006 : 10:30:48 Only Application user password is required. NT user password is optional.
Please go to Admin > Settings > Security > Check “Create Nt Users and Roles” and click Update. This will make “Update” button at the bottom of the Role admin page visible. The next build will build have this problem.
