Is there a way for a user to take a current published report, modify it and save as a new report and publish to a group of users?

any suggestions or ideas?

Give user write permissions to a folder, which is visible to a group of users.

If I give WRITER permission to a user, they will see all the design options and it can be a problem. Is there a way to suppress those pull down option in the design menu?
I first thought that the publisher permission is to allows user to do just that, but it turn out to be not the case, can you please explain to me what is the purpose of a PUBLISHER?

Thanks

You are correct, by giving the user the writer permissions you give him the ability to design all kinds of reports. This is not, however, what I meant by saying “Give user write permissions to a folder”.

By keeping the “Writer” box unchecked you can give your user a more restricted design access by giving him access to only some “Available report types”.

Thanks for your response;
I have another related question, after assigned a user report type OLAP or OWC, Can I limit the user to see only cubes that he/she had permission to see base on the MSOLAP roles? for now the user see all the cubes that is available on the server. which is not what we want.

To enable Analysis Services Security you will need to:

1) Go to Admin > Settings. Uncheck the "XML for Analysis Security Enabled" option and click Update.

2) Change msxisapi.dll to use basic authentication only.

3) Open user properties and enter NT user id and password for the user. Note that you can use the same NT user id and password for multiple users.

Here is the link to documentation:
