Hello everyone,

Our users are already logged onto the network with windows authentication and I'd like to get the login screen bypassed.

In Settings / Security:
1. "Enable pass-through authentication" is checked and I can test successfully.
2. Windows domain name set correctly.
3. Security authentication mode is set to "Mixed"
4. The test analysis server is temporarily set to allow "ALL domain users" browser access and this has been tested successfully.
5. I have users assigned to a Report Portal role that has a server administrator windows username and password.

However, when users go to report portal it's still taking them to the login screen. What am I missing here?

Thanks!

marco

Excellent. That worked Marco, thank you. :)

OK, next question. For users that I didn't manually setup I want to synchronize using the built in Synch Users tool. However, when I bring it up it doesn't bring back any groups or users. I only see my domain.

Any ideas?

Please set admin/synchUsers.aspx to Basic Authentication using IIS console.

Bah...so easy. Was certain I had tried that. Must have done something wrong...maybe I left intregrated windows authentication checked when I did it.

Thanks again!

Hello again...

OK, the sigle sign on is working; however, it's requiring users to enter their login and password the first time they connect. Is there any way around this? Also, what happens when the users change their password--which they're required to do every 60 days.

Thanks!

Please go to Admin > Settings > Password > uncheck “User must change password at first login” and click Update. The Pass-through Authentication will not require you to enter the password into the application using a web form.

Which Authentication (Window or Basic) do you have enabled on ReportPortal virtual directory (or Login.aspx)?

The Pass-through Authentication will not require you to enter Windows user name and password if you have:
1) Window Authentication on ReportPortal virtual directory
2) User is logged in to the Web server’s Windows domain
3) User’s Internet Explorer has the following: Internet Options > Security tab > Custom Level… > User Authentication > Automatic Login

It's still bringing up a login screen. The change password box is not checked.

1) "Integrated Windows Authentication" is selected on BOTH the ReportPortal virtual directory AND the login.aspx.

2) Regarding being logged into the web server domain: One thing I've noticed is that when I run the UserDiagnostics tool, I'm seeing the "Windows User Name", "Domain Name" and "Application User Name" (with the users full name)...but I'm not seeing the Window Groups the user belongs to. Could this be the problem?

3) IE is set to Allow login on intranet zone.

And just to reiterate. Once they login, it won't prompt them a second time. It's just the first time, though I'm concerned about what happens when they change their password.

Thanks!

To avoid the initial login, please try one the following settings:
Admin > Settings > Security> “Security authentication mode” = "Application"
Admin > Settings > OLAP Report > Other > “XML for Analysis Security Enabled” = uncheck

The Pass-through authentication will not update the Windows password unless you use Basic Authentication only. However, you can instruct your users to update it via Design > Other > Update User Info whenever they set a security error.
