 Install error - SQL 2008 OLE DB Provider		  New Topic  Reply to Topic

Hi,
At installation I got the error message of "Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Olap Services 9.0 must be installed prior to installing this application". I already have Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Olap Services 10.0 and 9.0 is not compatible with SQL 2008.

Please advice.

Francis,

You must have picked Analysis Services 2005 during the installation. Currently, it is the default option.

HI,
That may be the case. However, I cannot take the repair path as that same message comes up and I cannot remove either as the an error message with code = 2869 came up.

Please advise.

I tried the script in FAQ for uninstall but an error came up indicating that it was unable to remove registry key "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products\C7C7C8889BAED294FB71B29DD8CA2028\".


Please advise.

I got through this problem by removing the the entry from the registry as pointed out in the FAQ.
