I understand that Report Portal is not officially compatiable with 2005, however, am doing some of my own testing.

When I attempt to connect to an Olap database and cube (using localhost) as server name, I get the following error:

Error: Cannot connect to the server 'LOCALHOST'. The server is either not started or too busy.

I can connect to it fine in excel using a pivot table and the server name being LOCALHOST, however can not in Report Portal.

I have ensured my Datasource file is pointing at LOCALHOST for the Analysis Server, and have ensured my XML for Analysis Services server is correct i.e. http://LOCALHOST/xmla/msxisapi.dll

I am using the correct URL: http://localhost/reportportal

SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services seems to be fine (otherwise how would I be able to connect to it via excel?)

But still I get this error. Is this likely to be a compatibility issue, or is there some issue with my installation/configuration?

Jared,

SQL Server 2005 has its own built in XMLA service. Try downloading XMLA browser for 2005 to see how this works: http://www.reportportal.com/XmlaClient2005.zip

The directions in this say to create a virtual folder called XMLA, which I already have...do I just need to replace the msxisapi.dll with msmdpump.dll

Which version of SQL Server 2005 are you using April or June Release ?
