Hi there!!!

I have designed some OWC reports and I can access them from any pc in my LAN. The problem is when someone tries to access them from an outside computer through the internet.
The ISS server and the OLAP server are not the same and the OLAP server has no public IP address.
The configuration of the XMLA Datasources is correct, otherwise it wouldn't be possible to access the reports through the LAN.
It seems that in the report definition there exists some reference to the OLAP Server's NetBiosNamer and of course that name cannot be resolved once you are out of the LAN. It wouldn't help at all to use the OLAP server's IP cause that's a private IP (192.168.1.xxx) which is not accessible from outside either...

Any ideas???

Thanks

1) Setup Analysis Services HTTP access

a) http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/csvr2002/htm/cs_se_secure_dw_npcs.asp

b) http://support.microsoft.com/kb/279489/EN-US/

2) Point ReportPortal to thevirtual Directory URL that contains the msolap.asp file

Hi Igor,

I have applied your instructions.

OLAP Reports are working perfectly; however I get errors for the OWC reports. Do you have any idea...

I'm encountering the same issue, could you let me know the resolution?

Although, I have to check with out network administrator about below requirement from microsoft;

"Even though access is enabled over port 80, you must also open TCP port 2725 in the corporate firewall so Office XP Web Components (OWC) have a direct connection to the Analysis Services server. If port 2725 is not available, the dynamic OLAP reports will not work. "

All OLAP tools worked (lan/internet) except for OWC internet access only. I'm wondering if the port 2725 was the resolution.

TIA

Please open the datasources.xml file and make sure that DataSourceName matches your server name.
