I'm receiving several different error messages when trying to connect to OLAP cubes.

I just downloaded and installed ReportPortal 2.1 on a Win 2003 server. The analysis services server (SQL 2005) is at a separate location. I've installed and configured ReportPortal per the documentation and connecting to OLAP cubes works properly as long as I'm actually browsing ReportPortal on the same machine where the web server/ReportPortal is installed. When I go to another PC on the domain and try to connect to OLAP cubes, I get one or more of the following messages.

Errors xfaultcode->Server xfaultstring->Unknown server error xfaultsoap->

or

Errors xfaultcode->Client xfaultstring->Internal error xfaultsoap->No data is available for the requested resource.

or

Errors xfaultcode->Client xfaultstring->The download of the specified resource has failed.

The virtual directory for xmla on the web server is set to allow anonymous access and the account specified is actually the local administrator account (just to make sure it's not a rights issue). When I go to Start->Programs->ReportPortal->Application Setup and click Test on the XMLA setup screen, there's no issue there.

The truly odd thing about this is, sometimes it works. If I keep trying to connect to the OLAP cube, I get different combinations of these errors, but I can often get it to work after several tries. So if it was a rights issue, which seems to be the main culprit of these types of errors (from my searching in these forums), one would think it wouldn't ever work.

I'm stumped, anybody else run into something like this?

Thank you.

You said you had analysis services server (SQL 2005) is at a separate location… It is ok to use local account as long as both servers belong to the same domain and user ids as passwords are the same.

Can you connect to your AS server from your server using a UDL?

Well, I have had this error, but I uninstall (UnRegister) the Internet Explorer Component msxml3.dll and install again, but with Service Pack 7 from Microsoft, of course in your client with problems. this work for me.
