I think you dont have OLAP. MSDE is only a database without OLAP functions.

I advice you to use an evaluation version of MS SQL SERVER 2005. It includes then newest Business Intelligence solutions (OLAP). You can download and use it 180 days.

Report Portal is full compatible with it.

Hi,

i am not sure, but it can be, that msde is not supported because of this "System requirements":
http://www.reportportal.com/help.asp

But, if it is supported :
Please make sure that your SQL Server is in the MIXED (SQL Server AND Windows) security mode:
http://www.reportportal.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=212 (second posting from admin)

There is a hint in MSDE helpfile "how to install in mixed mode".
