Posted - 07/06/2005 : 08:00:40 Problem solved but...
Is there a way to avoid repeated names in domain groups when adding them to the database?

quote: I finally understood why you couldn’t reproduce the error.
What I was doing, was synchronizing groups. We have a group in the domain called “BI REPORTER”, and we had a role in the database named “BI REPORTER”, when I added the group, the role name duplicated, and that’s why it kept saying that the role name wasn’t unique. The problem then, wasn’t at the role page, it was at the Synch Users page.

I really cannot reproduce the problem you described. Would you mind providing screenshots and steps necessary to reproduce the problem? |

Posted - 06/30/2005 : 07:33:13 It's not necessary, the thing is that without checking the "nt based" checkbox, I can't update, so what's the point of it?

The uniqueness check does happened on update but it excludes the currently selected Role avoiding the problem you mentioned.
Can you please send screenshots and steps necessary to reproduce the problem you are experiencing to sales@reportportal.com |

Posted - 06/29/2005 : 07:31:30 The NT BASED check avoids the problem, but it's not very intuitive... why nt based?

Yes, now there is a uniqueness check in place when you try to update a role. However, this is not a bug but a feature.
Where?... the only thing like that is the "nt based" check, but if "create nt roles" is enables, it doesn't show the update button. But I don't have it NT BASED, and it should allow me to make any update on the role, even if I don't change the name, that's the point of having an update button.
For example, if i created a role and i desire to add a report type to that, then I can't because it doesn't allow me to make updates on roles because the name is (obviously) taken.
The thing is, you should only validate the name for the add button, when updating, you shouldn't update the name, that's the way it should work out if it's a requirement.
